About Statuario Porcelain
Statuario porcelain reproduces the look of Statuario marble, a bright white field with crisp grey veining, in a slab that is fired rather than quarried. The result is the most durable marble-look surface available: highly resistant to heat, scratching, staining and UV fading.
Large-format sizing is the other advantage. Porcelain slabs come big enough to cover an island or a full-height backsplash with fewer seams than natural stone, and at typical thicknesses they are light enough to be used on cabinet fronts, shower walls and fireplace surrounds where stone would be too heavy.

What is porcelain?
Porcelain slabs are fired at extremely high temperature, producing a surface that is highly resistant to heat, scratching, staining and UV fading. Large-format sizes mean fewer seams on islands and waterfall edges.
Statuario Porcelain questions we get asked
Is porcelain better than quartz for countertops?
For heat and UV, yes. You can set a hot pan on porcelain and use it outdoors, neither of which is safe with engineered quartz. Porcelain is thinner and harder to fabricate, so edge details and cutouts require an experienced fabricator.
Can porcelain slabs chip?
The surface is extremely hard, but edges and cutouts are the vulnerable points during fabrication and installation. This is why porcelain is worth having cut by a shop that works with it regularly, as ours does.
Does Statuario porcelain veining run through the edge?
On most porcelain the pattern is on the surface layer, so a mitered edge is used to carry the look down the side. We can show you finished edge samples so you know exactly how it will read.
Can Statuario porcelain be used outdoors?
Yes. It is UV stable and freeze-thaw resistant, making it one of the few marble-look options that will not yellow or fade on a Charlotte patio or outdoor kitchen.
