About Alabaster Noir
Alabaster Noir is a true black quartz with a fine scatter of white and grey mineral flecks through it, so it reads as a solid dark surface from across the room and only shows its texture up close. It is the choice for people who want drama without the busy veining of a Calacatta.
Black counters are unforgiving of dust and water spots, which is why the speckle matters here: it breaks up the surface just enough to be liveable in a working kitchen. It is also the classic pairing for white or light oak cabinetry, and a strong option for a bar, an island or a powder-room vanity where you want contrast.

What is quartz?
Quartz slabs are engineered from crushed natural quartz bound with resin and pigment. The result is a non-porous surface with consistent color and pattern that never needs sealing, making it a practical choice for kitchens and baths.
Alabaster Noir questions we get asked
Does black quartz show fingerprints and water spots?
More than a light color, yes, especially in a polished finish. The white speckle in Alabaster Noir helps, and a microfibre cloth kept in a drawer handles it. If that would bother you daily, a suede or matte finish hides marks better.
What cabinet colors work with Alabaster Noir?
It is at its best against white, cream or light oak, where the contrast is the design. With dark cabinetry it can read heavy unless the room has a lot of natural light or you use it on an island only.
Can it be used for a full backsplash?
Yes, and a full-height black backsplash behind a range looks intentional rather than dated. Bear in mind it will show cooking splatter more than a light slab, so plan on wiping it down as you cook.
Does Alabaster Noir need to be sealed?
No. Engineered quartz is non-porous, so there is nothing to seal. Warm water, a soft cloth and a mild soap if needed is the whole routine; skip abrasive pads, bleach and any sealer or topical treatment.
Can I put a hot pan on Alabaster Noir?
No. The resin binder in every engineered quartz can scorch or discolor, so use a trivet. If hot pans routinely land on your counter, granite or porcelain is the safer surface.
