About Blue Dunes

Blue Dunes is a light granite with long, directional streaks of taupe, tan and blue-grey running across a white and silver-grey background. The movement looks like wind-swept sand, which is where the name comes from.

Because the pattern runs in one direction, layout matters. We plan how the streaks run along an island or around a corner so the slab looks continuous. It pairs well with white, grey, greige and natural wood cabinets.

What is granite?

Granite is one of the most popular materials due to its versatility, durability, and ease of maintenance. It can also be more affordable than other options. Granite comes in a striking array of colors and is an ideal choice for kitchen and bathroom countertops, outdoor projects, business applications, and other heavily used surfaces.

Blue Dunes questions we get asked

Does Blue Dunes look more white or more grey?

Overall it reads as a light, cool white-grey with warm taupe movement. The blue tones are subtle and show up most in natural light.

How do you handle seams with a directional stone?

We plan the layout on your actual slabs so the streaks run the same way across any seam. On an island we try to fit the top from a single slab when possible.

Does Blue Dunes need to be sealed?

Most granite benefits from a sealer, and we seal at install. Dark, dense granites absorb very little, so resealing is infrequent; the water-drop test once a year tells you if it is needed.

Can I put a hot pan on Blue Dunes?

Granite is one of the most heat-tolerant countertop materials, so an occasional hot pan will not hurt it. We still suggest a trivet as a habit to protect the sealer and the seams.
