About Crete
Crete is a soft grey quartz with a fine sandy texture through it and no veining, a quieter and warmer take on the concrete look. It gives a room a matte, mineral feel without a pattern to design around.
Textured neutrals like this are a good fit for contemporary kitchens, laundry rooms and commercial work, where the surface needs to look considered but not compete with cabinetry, tile or millwork.

What is quartz?
Quartz slabs are engineered from crushed natural quartz bound with resin and pigment. The result is a non-porous surface with consistent color and pattern that never needs sealing, making it a practical choice for kitchens and baths.
Crete questions we get asked
How is Crete different from the Concrete color?
Both are grey and unveined. Concrete is flatter and cooler, closer to poured concrete; Crete has a finer sandy texture and a slightly softer, warmer cast. Seeing them side by side takes about a minute in the warehouse.
Does a textured grey hide daily use?
Yes, better than a flat color or a bright white. It is one of the more forgiving surfaces we sell for a busy kitchen or a commercial counter.

Does Crete need to be sealed?
No. Engineered quartz is non-porous, so there is nothing to seal. Warm water, a soft cloth and a mild soap if needed is the whole routine; skip abrasive pads, bleach and any sealer or topical treatment.
Can I put a hot pan on Crete?
No. The resin binder in every engineered quartz can scorch or discolor, so use a trivet. If hot pans routinely land on your counter, granite or porcelain is the safer surface.
