About Cristalita
Cristalita is an icy white quartzite with a crystalline, almost translucent body, fine white streaks that look like frost, and occasional rust and grey accents. It has a luminous quality that a manufactured surface cannot copy.
It brightens a room without the flat look of a plain white, which makes it a favorite for kitchens that do not get much daylight and for primary baths. The rust accents are natural iron in the stone; how many a slab shows varies, so it is worth choosing your slab in person.

What is quartzite?
Quartzite is a natural stone that can mimic the look of marble while behaving more like granite. Its veining and bold patterns add elegance, and it is harder and more etch-resistant than marble.
Cristalita questions we get asked
Are the rust-colored spots in Cristalita a flaw?
No. They are natural mineral deposits, usually iron, and part of the stone's character. If you prefer a cleaner white, we can help you pick a slab or position the cut to minimize them.
Can Cristalita be backlit?
Some crystalline quartzites allow light through thin sections, but it depends on the slab and the thickness. Ask us and we will check the slab you are considering before you plan around it.
Does Cristalita need to be sealed?
Yes, we recommend it. Quartzite is dense, but it is still a natural stone, so we seal it at install. A quick check once a year tells you when to reseal: if a few drops of water darken the stone within a few minutes, it is time.
Will lemon juice or wine etch Cristalita?
True quartzite resists etching far better than marble, which is the main reason people choose it. Some stones sold as quartzite contain softer minerals, though, so we are happy to test a sample from your actual slab before you commit. Wipe up acids promptly either way.
What slab sizes and thicknesses do you have in Cristalita?
Natural stone arrives in different sizes with every block, so we do not publish a figure. Call (704) 394-1221 and we will tell you what is on the rack today and whether it covers your island in one piece.
