About Fusion

Fusion is a multicolor quartzite with swirling bands of cream, grey and blue cut through by rust, orange and green. It is one of the most colorful stones we sell, and each slab is unique.

Because it carries so many colors, Fusion can tie a whole palette together: it works with wood, blue or green cabinetry, and with simple white. It shines on an island, a bar or a vanity where it can be seen as a piece of natural art.

What is quartzite?

Quartzite is a natural stone that can mimic the look of marble while behaving more like granite. Its veining and bold patterns add elegance, and it is harder and more etch-resistant than marble.

Fusion questions we get asked

How much do Fusion slabs vary?

A lot. The color balance can shift from mostly cool blue and grey to strongly warm rust and orange, even within one bundle. We strongly suggest picking your own slab at the warehouse.

Is Fusion too busy for a full kitchen?

It can be if every surface is Fusion. A common approach is Fusion on the island with a calm, solid-looking surface on the perimeter, which gives you the impact without overwhelming the room.

Does Fusion need to be sealed?

Yes, we recommend it. Quartzite is dense, but it is still a natural stone, so we seal it at install. A quick check once a year tells you when to reseal: if a few drops of water darken the stone within a few minutes, it is time.

Can I put a hot pan on Fusion?

Quartzite handles heat much better than engineered quartz, since there is no resin to scorch. We still recommend a trivet, because a very hot pan on a cold stone can stress it, and it protects the sealer.

What slab sizes and thicknesses do you have in Fusion?

Natural stone arrives in different sizes with every block, so we do not publish a figure. Call (704) 394-1221 and we will tell you what is on the rack today and whether it covers your island in one piece.
