About New Caledonia
New Caledonia is a mid-tone granite with an even blend of taupe, grey, brown, black and cream grains. It is warm, neutral and very forgiving in a working kitchen.
It hides crumbs, spills and water spots well, and its consistent pattern makes seams blend. It looks good with white, cream, grey and wood cabinets.

What is granite?
Granite is one of the most popular materials due to its versatility, durability, and ease of maintenance. It can also be more affordable than other options. Granite comes in a striking array of colors and is an ideal choice for kitchen and bathroom countertops, outdoor projects, business applications, and other heavily used surfaces.
New Caledonia questions we get asked
Is New Caledonia a warm or cool granite?
It sits in between: a taupe-grey with brown and cream grains. It works with both warm and cool cabinet colors.
What backsplash goes with New Caledonia?
White or cream subway tile is a classic pairing. Light greige or taupe tile works for a softer, tone-on-tone look.
Is New Caledonia a good choice for a busy family kitchen?
Yes. Granite stands up to heat, scratches and daily wear, and a patterned stone like New Caledonia hides crumbs, water spots and fingerprints better than a solid surface.
Does New Caledonia need to be sealed?
Most granite benefits from a sealer, and we seal at install. Dark, dense granites absorb very little, so resealing is infrequent; the water-drop test once a year tells you if it is needed.
