What is marble?

Marble is known for its classic and timeless beauty. This natural stone has soft, distinct veining and unique character, and it is a favorite for baths, vanities, fireplace surrounds and baking areas.

Statuario questions we get asked

What is the difference between Statuario and Carrara?

Statuario has a brighter white background and bolder, more dramatic grey veins. Carrara is greyer with softer, finer veining.

Is Statuario marble worth it for a kitchen?

If you love the look and accept some patina, yes. If you want it worry-free, ask about a Statuario-look quartz or porcelain.

Will Statuario etch or stain?

Marble is softer than granite and reacts to acids, so lemon, vinegar, wine, tomato and some cleaners can leave dull etch marks if left sitting. Wipe spills promptly, use coasters and a pH-neutral stone cleaner. Many owners accept a soft patina over time as part of marble's character.

Does Statuario need to be sealed?

Yes. We seal at install and suggest checking once a year: if a few drops of water darken the stone within a few minutes, it is time to reseal. Sealing helps with stains but does not prevent etching.

Can I use Statuario in a kitchen?

You can, as long as you are comfortable with some patina. Marble is a classic baking surface and looks beautiful on an island, but it will show etching from acids over time. If you want the look with less upkeep, ask us to show you a quartzite or a marble-look quartz alongside it.
