About Ubatuba
Ubatuba is one of the darkest granites we stock, a Brazilian stone that reads near-black in low light and reveals fine green and gold flecking when the sun hits it. The pattern is tight and consistent rather than dramatic, which makes it one of the easiest dark granites to lay out across a large kitchen: seams disappear and slab-to-slab variation stays minimal.
It is a workhorse surface. Ubatuba is dense and low in porosity, resists heat and scratching, and hides crumbs and water spots better than almost anything else on our floor, which is why it shows up in busy family kitchens, laundry rooms and commercial installs. It pairs cleanly with white or light grey cabinetry for contrast, or with natural wood for a warmer look.

What is granite?
Granite is one of the most popular materials due to its versatility, durability, and ease of maintenance. It can also be more affordable than other options. Granite comes in a striking array of colors and is an ideal choice for kitchen and bathroom countertops, outdoor projects, business applications, and other heavily used surfaces.
Ubatuba questions we get asked
Is Ubatuba granite good for kitchen countertops?
Yes. It is one of the most practical granites for a working kitchen because it is dense, heat resistant and dark enough to hide everyday crumbs, water spots and light wear that show quickly on paler stone.
What color cabinets go with Ubatuba granite?
White and light grey cabinets give the sharpest contrast and are the most common pairing. Natural or medium-stained wood warms the black up, and for a tone-on-tone look, deep navy or charcoal cabinets work with a lighter backsplash.
Does Ubatuba granite need to be sealed?
Ubatuba is low in porosity, so it needs less sealing than lighter granites, but we still recommend sealing once a year to keep oils from darkening the surface around the cooktop and sink.
Is Ubatuba consistent from slab to slab?
More than most natural stone. The speckle is fine and even, so multi-slab kitchens and islands match well. We still recommend viewing your actual slabs in person before fabrication.
